The end of an era..

Soo... the old Ravensbourne at Chislehurst has not closed its doors for the final time and will be sailing to the new site of Greenwich. Exciting stuff! The new building appears to be well layed out but not necessarily best designed for IDEAs Architecture, Product or Fashion.. I guess we will have to see what happens when we do finally move in there.

This summer plans to be a busy one.. There are Exhibitions that look Really interesting this summer and work that I will be participating in with certain people should work out to be pretty amazing. First of all I need to concentrate on the different..

The final crits happened on Thursday and Friday at the old Rave. Most people wanted to have them done on Thurs so it was over sooner but i didn't have the chance or really want it. I needed to sort the presentation sheets out.

Presenting in front of a huge variety of intellectuals from course leaders, tutors, a very important external examiner (who I had a bit of an argument with) proved tougher than anticipated.. Hopefully the results went well. I will hopefully find out in due course!

Lets bring on a summer of knowledge growing!

I'll try and get more pics up of people's work soon.

Below is the old Chislehurst Ravensbourne..

Almost a year ago we told you of a survey Autodesk was conducting regarding the UI and printing capabilities of Autocad with Mac users, the first confirmation of Autodesk finally working on a version for this platform.

Federico Viticci from Macstories posted several screen shoots of Sledgehammer, the first Beta of Autocad for Mac OSX, running on a 64-bit machine. The UI presents several changes from what we were used to on the Windows version, and I´m happy to see mouse gestures (supported by Macbook's touchpad and the Magic Mouse).

Not much details out there, but we do have a meeting with an Autodesk rep in the following weeks, when we will try to get you more details.

In the meanwhile, take a look at the following screen shoots and tell us what you think: Is Autodesk going in a good direction with this new version (more than an adaptation) of Autocad for Mac? Does the UI seem usable for you? What would you add?

Daniel Libeskind

He cracked many jokes through the night. One thing he said that stuck in my head was that a piece of architecture or building is like a sculpture.. With waterpipes.

The Start of Daniel Libeskind Talk

This looked like it would be a brilliant night and it ended up being fantastic. The intimate event with Daniel Libeskind gave a real insight into his way of working and his thought process. He also happens to be quite the joker!

Its all boiling along nicely.

So its now the 13th May, The final deadline for my personal project is the 28th May, well atleast thats the last day of term but we will see how things go. The design is starting to finally take shape. All things are starting to roll a long ok for once but I am sure that something will obviously go wrong towards the most critical moment! Next week there will be a show at Maidstone UCA to show off the foundation work, I am wondering how they compared to us last year, maybe potentially as good as we were but you never know..

A grand meeting will be held next Friday, The return of Peter Smith to bless his old 3D class. This will be a momentous time and a fantastic reunion. There will be many drinks and a good curry to be consumed!

Lets see how well the final projects go with very little sleep in the next coming weeks?
